Last weekend, die hard fans, wannabe superheroes, and weirdoes grabbed their pocket protectors and actually left their mom’s basement to pack the Jacob Javits Center for the first annual NY Anime Festival. The convention, which ran all weekend included plenty of eye candy such as cosplays, manga and hot-ass scantily-clad Asian girls. For those still unsatisfied, there were panels and screenings galore. Saturday night wrapped up with a raffle and a musical performance from a Japanese band that I found bewildering because I do not speak Japanese. The three day visual orgy was definitely worth the 20 bucks that I, thanks to Mass Appeal, had to pay out of my own pocket. - Carlos Matias
