Guilt Trip

guilty-simpson-home-invazion-clean.mp3 Guilty Simpson - Home Invazion (Produced by Madlib)

This kid Guilty Simpson out of Detroit has been making noise for some time now, but with his debut dropping next month, a lot more people are going to be getting real familiar. At least, if they don’t want him going back to “Home invazions”.

Who Says You Shouldn’t Go Raw?

Pepsi is poised to release a new cola called Pepsi Raw containing “apple extract, plain caramel colouring, coffee leaf, tantaric acid from grapes, gum arabic from acacia trees, cane sugar and sparkling water”. Soda that’s actually good for you? Next, you’ll be telling me that weed has medicinal purposes. *

Fitted

Releasing ever so shortly at your local Levis and/or Nike retailers, you can cop a full outfit (tee, jeans, and Jordan 1’s) in one package for $395. While this does eliminate the hard work that is matching, what I don’t understand is how the ensemble’s sizing works. What about the fat kids with small feet? Or the skinny kids with big feet? Seeing as how the packages are limited, I’m interested in the breakdown.

Tricky Riky

Check out the latest edition to Mass Appeal TV, an interview with guerrilla filmmaker Rik Cordero, in the player on the right. See how he gets all Sandinista and pumps out dope videos on a budget. Watch Cordero trade the gunplay and crack sales of “Blue Magic” for textbooks and tight sweaters in a behind the scenes look at the video for Ivy-League lyricists Kidz in the Hall.  It’s all there, on your Mass Appeal TV Player on the right!

The Falling Sun

This is the latest video from A Place To Bury Strangers for “The Falling Sun.” The entire video is actually cut from a late-70’s made for TV movie entitled “Lathe of Heaven,” the first sci-fi movie ever produced for public television. Weird science!

Its Da Bomb

Kanye’s boy Murakami got a royal introduction to bombing courtesy of Auger and Revok of the legendary MSK. His reaction? To remove the whole billboard and have it shipped back to Japan…so he could keep it! Click here for the full story or click here for our feature on Norm and Steel of MSK from issue 46!

It’s A Celebration

Ghost Deini’s video for “Celebrate” off (I’m assuming) his latest album, Big Doe Rehab. Biggest letdown: Ghost not slapping any of the other patients. I was sure it was going to happen, and then nothing.

Big Brothers

In a weird way, it makes perfect sense that a classic film like Demolition Man would foretell a future where everyone was tracked down to the retna. The next time Snipes goes so far as to get a blonde gumby, we damn well better pay attention.
