QTR Back

Gucci is still doing him and well if I might add. Check out the new video for “3rd Qtr” directed, in accordance with the rest of Gucci’s life, by Hood Affairs. On a side note, I can’t possibly be the only one excited about that Gucci Mane/Yo Gotti mixtape!

Retreat

In his continued quest to bring the cool back to city, our boy Scottie Brix put together a little something to liven up Tuesday nights. This Tuesday’s special guest is true-school aficionado Peter Rosenburg, but look for the kid Treats to hold down the jammy jams.

Something To Cry About

Throughout Mexico, riot police are out in full force in attempts to prevent attacks against emo-kids. That’s right emo-kids. Punks, metal-heads, and various other sub-cultural groups have sparked a recent wave of violence against the kinder and more sensitive music scene. In response to the recent carnage, on Wednesday, “emos,” clad in tight jeans and signature black hair and makeup, marched in a demonstration in Mexico City. On a brighter note, imagine the freaky “emo” version of Westside Story that come from this.

Wayne’s World

weezy-a-milli.mp3 Lil Wayne - A Milli

I had all but given up on Weezy recently, but with this rumored second single from the impending Carter III, he seems to have hit his stride. Inside a screwed-up sample (of his own voice, if I’m not mistaken), Wayne dances effortlessly, engulfing himself in it like a blanket during Saturday morning cartoons. This almost singularly resurrects my faith in an exciting Wayne full length. Almost.

Hey Ladies!

Game Time Decision

Rap life for the Game, a talented black rapper, hasn’t been easy, so one can only imagine the struggle of a young John Brown. Nevertheless, “The Face of LA” opted out of an appearance on egotrip’s The White Rapper Show, or what would have been a chance to school some young bucks on, well, the game. Check out the Mass Appeal TV video on the right, for a preview of the issue 50 cover story, where, amongst other things, he talks to Lord SHR about why he wasn’t down with it.

Light Up Ya Life

Mass Appeal guilty pleasure Francis And The Lights will be getting it in, this very evening, at the Mercury Lounge. Fall through. You shan’t regret it.

Sugar Water

This trailer for a supposed upcoming reality show about Sugar Bear has been making the rounds on the net. In all, it looks to be pretty much the same Suge you’ve come to know and detest, but how about my man that tells Suge that they’re cut from the same cloth. Really?

Now They Reminisce Over You

Poor little rich girl. Earlier today, Remy Ma was convicted on 4 of 9 charges regarding the shooting of “friend” Makeda Barnes Joseph outside of Pizza Bar. The thing is, Remy never claimed that she didn’t shoot her, she just said it was an “accident.” Here’s a thought: when you’re waving the burner in somebody’s face, there’s really only one kind of accident that can happen: somebody gets bucked! As for her label status, Akon, are you listening?
