Live And Direct

Words: Carlos E. Matias Photos: Ace Brown

When I first heard that LiveNDirect was putting on a show at Highline with Kid Cudi, Wale, and NY’s Finest, I knew I was in there like swimwear. Allow me to convey why you should have been. The homie Kid Cudi opened up, fresh off officially releasing his single “Day N Nite” on Fool’s Gold. Cudder was followed by Torae who unintentionally pretty much gave everyone a prime opportunity to hit the bar. Sporting a tight-ass leather jacket, Rhymefest entertained with a brand new version of “Brand New” sans Kanye, but with the addition of drunken white guy randomly pulled from the audience. Soon after, Wale came out with his Nike Boots and a 9 piece Go Go band. Yes, a 9 piece Go Go band. Pete Rock finally made it to the stage and played joints from almost every rapper he has produced for (and thats alot of rappers). He also brought out Stlyes P and Royal Flush (Ghetto Millionaire!) for some assistance. The Chocolate Boy Wonder proved that his joints are still some of the hardest out, that he can still rock a party and that his beats throughout his career have serviced more rappers than superhead.
