Remember the days when you’d run to the store to purchase a pack of baseball cards, in hopes of finding something to trade for that super-rare Jose Canseco rookie card, and finally getting your hands on it, only to have it stolen by the school bully? Well, the guys at MLB 2K8 can empathize with you. In their latest installment of the MLB series you can win vintage cards and trade them in for stadiums (how about the infamous Polo Grounds?), throwback jerseys or sell them at the card shop for credit through Xbox Live.
Besides the nostalgic feeling of card collecting, they’ve also tweaked the game for faster and more realistic player controls. The new pitching options let gamers use the analog stick in place of punching buttons making it much quicker to throw heat with your favorite ‘roid pumping pitchers. In addition to exhibition and home-run derby modes, theres a minor league mode (for those who cant hang with the big boys) that puts you in Triple and Double A leagues, all in the comfort of your bully free-home.
