If you’re in NYC, more likely than not you’ve been to a party where Melo-X has rocked. He’s opened for hip-hop heavyweights like Clark Kent and 9th Wonder, but for the self proclaimed “renaissance man,” spinning records is just the beginning. Besides moving the crowd via turntables, Brooklyn-born Melo raps, writes songs, photographs, produces and even pimps (yikes). At 22 years old, he cites J-Dilla and Erykah Badu as inspiration for his recent instrumental album, “Dusty Time Warped Vibes.” We recently caught up with the Jack-of-all-trades to talk about the project, why he dissed the Jay-Z on it, and how reggae vibes make him get damn near butt-naked. With just under a zillion new releases every year, Nike can’t possibly expect to strike gold every time, but when they do, oh boy. These soon to-be-released Court Forces are dripping in Native American influence in the form of patterns, leather laces and even beads. They’re speculated to be releasing sometime before the next harvest moon. (more »)

In some more news regarding our super sick wid it 50th issue, this weekend there’s a prime opportunity to re-up on some oh so dope Pegleg wears.
Aside from all the merchandise, there will be live DJ’s, drinks, and a customized photo booth. Photos from the event will be collected for a portrait feature on the PEGLEG NYC’s website. We look forward to seeing you this weekend!

This Wednesday, the always charitable vixens of N1DIR have another soiree to nourish your party appetite and build up your philanthropic resume. LES fail-safe The Delancey will be opening up it’s roof for a mix of fashion and music with performances by Mickey Factz and Heavy. This one’s for the early birds with doors opening at 8. The damage is a 5-spot, but the proceeds go to charity.

The Spizikes have been one of the few, new successful models from Jordan brand, but then again, they aren’t really new at all. They take some of the best parts of some of the best Jordan models of all time. The above colorway was released pretty exclusively sometime last summer, but the good news is that they’re re-releasing them. The bad news, is that it’ll be in Europe.

To survive the drought caused by the Writers Guild strike last year, most television networks re-uped with reality shows. And it makes sense. You don’t need any clever scripting to get washed up celebrities to murder the tango. Now that the strike is over, however, if TV viewers weren’t already painfully inundated with altered and recorded reality, they will be soon. With audiences getting bored of reality TV, the next logical step in entertainment would be a walkthrough reality show. (more »)
