If you missed the premier of egotrip’s Miss Rap Supreme last night, be mad at yourself. In typical egotrip fashion, the contestants are all characters and in a move of true genius, they allowed Khia on as a contestant! Check out the clip above where Khia and Ms. Cherry share their feelings about each other. Tune in every Monday night at 10 for the new episodes.

Spring Water

This Wednesday, the always charitable vixens of N1DIR have another soiree to nourish your party appetite and build up your philanthropic resume. LES fail-safe The Delancey will be opening up it’s roof for a mix of fashion and music with performances by Mickey Factz and Heavy. This one’s for the early birds with doors opening at 8. The damage is a 5-spot, but the proceeds go to charity.
Notorious Footage
With no shortage of grumblings regarding the still in-production Biggie movie, I welcome this unreleased Biggie footage with open arms.
Knit Wits

Alas, spring is upon us and that means warmer weather, more squirrels, and dope hip hop shows. Speaking of which, Network Edutainment Group has an especially ill line-up at the Knitting Factory this evening, headlined by Queens emcee, Loj. Don’t let the rave-like flier fool you. This is hip hop at it’s rawest.
Main Frame
The jury is still out on his music, but the kid Maino looks to have picked up some pretty serious ink recently. And while he’s known more for beating up Lil Cease, than any song he’s put out so far, Atlantic seems to have some pretty high hopes for him. Check out the trailer for his mixtape after the click through. (more »)
Billy Danze-s Alone?

Please excuse this ridiculous banner ad, but how did this end up in my junk-mail? And apparently, you can already order it here? The Art Of Raw?!? Not having heard one song, this easily one of the best albums of the year.
UPDATE: This is not Danze’s solo, but another project he is involved in. His solo is “Behind The Gates.” Please believe, we need that too.
Smif-N-Wessun - Who Gonna Save Us
While a bearded and mohawked Tek is a far cry from the Cocoa Brova we used to know, Smiff-N-Wessun are still, by and large, for the people. Check out their latest video, where the two wax political channeling Jewel (maybe not) for “Who Gonna Save Us.”
Ki’s Open Doors
Right after the instant classic Cocaine Cowboys came out, I remember hearing some grumblings from Rick Ross about how the movie neglected the impact of the brothas in the cocaine trade. He said he planned to make his own movie for the streets. Making good on his word, we now have M.I. Yayo. The boss takes us for a ride on the trill side of things as he documents corrupt cops, gangs wars and the biggest pushers of the 80’s and 90’s including his namesake, the real “Freeway” Rick Ross. The DVD also comes with a bonus soundtrack CD produced entirely by Street Radio. And while Cocaine Cowboys was a great film, you have to respect Ricky’s DIY attitude to set the record straight. The DVD is available now on Maybach Entertainment.
Clinically Insane
Strangely still under the radar, the Englishmen of Clinic drop Do It! today, which marks their fifth album in just over 10 years. Click through to see the video for “Free Not Free,” which, with the band sporting their signature surgical masks, inspired this post’s title. (more »)
Gymnastics

The Gym Class Heroes, possibly best known for turning your normally reserved girlfriend into a mindless groupie, have teamed up with the folks from 5G to remix their last album, As Cruel As School Children, which you can download for free here. This project is especially dope because they’ve dug in the crates to remix all of the songs using old Hall & Oates samples and that, I can go for.
