Mighty Healthy was formed in thought in 2002 by Ray Mate and Dennis Iderman, and officially became a company in 2004. The roots of the brand were initially sewn at Gino Ianucci’s infamous Long Island skate shop Poets, where Ray split duties working in the shop, skating and chipping in on the design tip. The two former Wall Street I.T. guys decided it was time to create gear they wanted to rock. Influenced by skate and hip hop culture with a distinctly New York vibe, while still maintaining a global feel, Mighty Healthy has become a brand to watch. In a field filled with cookie cutter designs, Mighty Healthy’s original flavor and style has been embraced by the streetwear cognoscenti for its unique creative and satirical flavor. As they work towards producing more pieces for the upcoming seasons, the fellows are conspicuously building a timeless brand that lends itself to peoples’ personal styles as opposed to having the clothes wear the individual.
In this hypebeast kind of world the Mighty Healthy cat stay ahead of the curve with spot-on
parodies of skate designs and thought provoking hip hop referenced mottos, like the tremendous “Listen to Ghostface” banger from last year’s collection. Inspired by the sounds of the so-called golden age of hip hop, Mighty Healthy also embraces traditional brands from the era, such as Polo, Timberland and Hilfiger. Having collaborated with a host of companies such as Mishka, Burton, The Hundreds and Diamond
Supply Co., the Mighty Healthy team has several mind blowing collabs coming up, but we cant let those
out of the bag just yet. The upcoming year will also set the stage for the crew to unleash their cut and sew pieces. As the boys make the move towards skateboarding hard goods like wheels and boards, the Mighty Healthy fam intends to increase their presence in the skate community in a synergistic way, while maintaining their individuality. You can find Mighty Healthy at Reed Space, Huf, Greyone, and any other store worth it’s weight in cool dude gear. So when you feel the need to step your game up, run up on one of your favorite cool dude shops and cop some of that Mighty Healthy. I know I did. Nuff said!
